Just a quick update. We started the day at Paul and Laurie's Gotcha Day. Ella has been very sad all day - obviously grieving the loss of her foster family. That's been tough on the Van Genderens, but they know it's temporary and know that the foster family must also be grieving.
Dani on the other hand...well, first off, she was arriving by taxi with a caregiver and the orphanage director at the same time we were arriving at the Civil Affairs Bureau. All smiles - we rode in the elevator together to the bureau office! She was content with us from the very first moment....until I tried to take away her stacking cups. I was glad to see that she can get upset! The other time she was a little agitated was when Elliot was going to put away the golfish crackers...she wasn't done yet!
We're off at 8:40 am to Datong (4 1/2 hour ride - that Dani just did today) to complete paperwork. We will go to see the orphanage (outside of it at least - they're nervous about H1N1) and will stay over night and then come back to Taiyuan on Wed. Probably no update tomorrow - I don't hold out hope for internet access wherever we're staying.
